Downtown Revitalization Project update, July 9
Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization Project work continues between 7th and 9th streets, and both blocks will likely remain closed for most of the repair period.
Starting July 9, crews will form and pour driveways, install ADA pavers, and complete stormwater connections. The following week, they’ll add stone to the roadway and start filling planting boxes with soil.
Base and intermediate paving is set to begin the week of July 21, along with the installation of street signs and lights.
The city promises that the roadway will be open in time for Strassenfest, with work on the 9th Street intersection and final paving scheduled to occur after the event.
On South Main Street, between 4th and 5th streets, parking on the west side will be temporarily blocked to install permanent tent anchor points for Strassenfest tents.
The city assures that all building entrances will remain accessible to foot traffic throughout the project. German American Bank’s drive-thru is still open.
Keep in mind that the project schedule depends on weather and material availability.
