Downtown Revitalization Project continues with plans to be finished later this spring

According to details shared at a recent construction meeting, construction crews are set to complete most of the work between 3rd and 4th Street by March 28 as part of Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization Phase II Project.

The section will undergo base paving and reopen to traffic, though occasional lane closures may still occur as workers finalize that portion of the project.

The meeting, held on March 20, included representatives from Ragle Construction, REA, VS Engineering, and the City of Jasper who discussed the ongoing progress and upcoming work schedule.

As crews wrap up work on the 3rd to 4th Street section, construction continues on Part Two of the project, which focuses on Main Street from 7th to 9th Street. This segment is scheduled to be completed later this spring.

Current construction activities are concentrated between 7th and 8th Street, with work expected to shift to the area between 8th and 9th Street in the coming weeks. Both blocks are anticipated to remain closed for most of the duration of repairs.

Project officials note that scheduling remains dependent on weather conditions and material availability, factors that could potentially alter the timeline.

Despite the road closures, the construction team emphasizes that accessibility to all building entrances will be maintained for foot traffic throughout the project. This accommodation ensures businesses can continue to serve customers during the construction period.

German American Bank customers will still have access to the drive-thru, which remains operational at this time.

To maintain communication and address any issues that arise, meetings with contractor representatives are held bi-weekly throughout the construction process. These regular check-ins allow for coordination between all parties involved in the project.
