Downtown revitalization project continues with Phase II construction

The City of Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization Project Phase II is moving forward with continued construction on North Main Street, according to updates from a June 11th construction meeting.

Representatives from Ragle Construction, REA, VS Engineering, and the City of Jasper met this week to discuss the ongoing work between 7th and 9th Streets, which will see both blocks closed for the majority of the repair duration.

Current Construction Timeline

Work is progressing on schedule with road demolition and stone replacement continuing between 7th and 9th Streets. Crews are simultaneously working on grading curb and sidewalk areas at the 8th Street intersection while advancing concrete work between 7th and 8th Streets.

Looking ahead to the week of June 23rd, contractors plan to form and pour sidewalks on 8th Street and complete remaining stormwater utility connections. However, project officials note that scheduling remains dependent on weather conditions and material availability.

Business Access Maintained

Despite the extensive construction, city officials emphasize that accessibility to all building entrances will be maintained for pedestrian traffic throughout the project. The German American Bank’s drive-thru service continues to operate normally during construction.
