Downtown Jasper hosting Oktoberfest; proceeds support veterans
Operation Mind, Body & Soul will hold an Oktoberfest in the downtown Jasper square this Saturday, Oct. 3, to raise money for local veterans organizations. The event includes a car and motorcycle show, live music and a veterans resource fair.
The car and bike show is open to classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. Registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Entry is $20. The first 100 entries get dash plaques. More than 20 awards will be given at 2:30 p.m., including a Top 40 for cars and trucks and best bikes. The Best of Show car and Best of Show bike winners can choose either $500 cash or a half-day tattoo session with Boone Taylor of Electric Graffiti Tattoo.
Live music runs all day:
- 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.: Southridge High School Choir
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: a Heart of Jasper artist [Editor’s note: performer not named]
- 1 to 2:30 p.m.: Kayla Griffen
- 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: One Night Stand Indiana
- 6 to 9 p.m.: Pfreak Show
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a resource area will connect veterans and families with local groups. Participants include Honor Flight, Operation Mind, Body & Soul, the Dubois County Veterans Service Office, Mental Health America of Indiana, ISPNAC, Visiting Angels, Heart to Heart Hospice, the American Legion, Wreaths Across America, the Dubois County VFW and outreach from the VA’s Robley Rex Medical Center.
