Dorothy (Stetter) Edele DeMuth, 96, St. Henry

Dorothy (Stetter) Edele DeMuth, 96, of St. Henry, passed away at 12:25 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery.

She was born June 30, 1928, in Huntingburg, to Anthony and Clara (Schwartz) Stetter.

She married Cyril F. Edele on November 18, 1950; he passed away April 17, 1973. On April 20, 1980, Dorothy married Othmar DeMuth; he passed away on January 30, 1985.

Dorothy was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry Christian Mother’s and St. Henry Quilters. She loved spending time with her family, praying the rosary, quilting, baking, working in the garden and mowing.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, John Edele; Stepsons, Richard, James and Robert DeMuth; grandson, Jeremy Edele; and sister, Virginia Miller.

She is survived by a son, Michael (Glenda) Edele; step-children, Pat Nordhoff, Charlie DeMuth, John DeMuth and Angie Gogel; grandchildren, Angela (Derek) Blair and Tyler Edele; great-grandchildren, Aaron (Alyssa) Blair and Gavin (fiancé, Brynn Schwartz) Edele; and by a great-great-grandchild, August Blair.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy DeMuth will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T. (10:00 a.m., C.S.T.), Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the St. Henry Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Riji George will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., E.S.T. (8:00-10:00 a.m., C.S.T.) prior to the service at the church. Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to D.A.V., Clem and Mary Lange Best Chairs Endowment for the Benefit of Ferdinand, Holland and St. Henry Projects or the St. Henry Cemetery Preservation Fund.
