Dorothy “Sis” Bleemel, 87, Jasper
Dorothy “Sis” Bleemel, 87, of Jasper, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at home.
Dorothy was born in Jasper, Indiana, on February 15, 1930, to Matthew and Lillian (Neuhoff) Wilz. She married Elmer Joe Bleemel on May 6, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1988.
She retired from the Ireland Co-Op, where she had worked for several years. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, where she was a charter member. She was also a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Golden Girls Class of 1948, was a Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered at Dubois County Community Meals and the Jasper Community Arts Center.
She was an avid card player and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandy Fendel (Lee) of Bristow, Becky Steffe (Doug) of Sharps Chapel, Tenn., Jane Persohn (Denny) of Jasper and Ann Brosmer (Tim) of Jasper; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death are one son, Jimmy Bleemel and one sister, Evelyn “Toots” Hopf.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy “Sis” Bleemel will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, at Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the noon service time on Friday at the church.
