Dorothy R. Buchta, 88, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Dorothy was born in Jasper, Indiana, on August 16, 1926 to John and Clara (Engelhart) Prechtel. She married John R. Buchta on February 24, 1949. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1972.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and their Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a member of the VFW Post #673 Jasper Auxiliary in Jasper. She enjoyed word search puzzles, reading, and spending time with family.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Mathies and her husband Keith of Dubois, Karen Moeller and husband Mark of Jasper and Janice Bell and husband Tom of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Kate Buchta of Jasper; three sons,
Bill Buchta and his companion Marsha Mills of Jasper, Randy Buchta and wife Elaine of Jasper and Terry Buchta and wife Sandy of Jasper; one brother, Edwin Prechtel of Jasper; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were three sons, Tom, Ronnie, and Jim Buchta; one sister, Lorena Eckert; and three brothers, Leo, Hilbert and Sylvester Prechtel.

Funeral services for Dorothy R. Buchta will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
