Dorothy Mae Kunkler, 90

Dorothy Mae Kunkler, 90, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born in Huntingburg, on August 21, 1924, to Prosper and Clotilde (Olinger) Kunkler.

Dorothy was a retired beautician who owned and operated the Modern Beauty Shop located on Fourth Street in Huntingburg for 60 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and very much enjoyed playing cards and going out to eat with friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Schoppenhorst and Mildred Hemmer.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Phyllis J. (spouse: Gerry) Verkamp of St. Anthony; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Kunkler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Reverend Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
