Dorothy M. Oeding, 91, of Ferdinand passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at her home in Ferdinand.
She was born March 18, 1922 in Jasper to Henry J. and Eleanora M. (Lechner) Stenftenagel.
She married Emil J. Oeding on May 22, 1945 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1990.
Dorothy was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, and its St. Ann’s Sodality, Ferdinand Daughters Of Isabella, Ferdinand Home Economics Club, and Tri-County YMCA. She was a Gold Star Mother and a 35-year member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Auxillary.
She was preceded in death also by one son, Dennis L. Oeding, one daughter, Gloria M. Lange, one brother, Felix “Jim” Stenftenagel, and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are seven daughters, Diane Rasche and husband Robert Jr., Judy Brockman and husband Paul, Debbie Weyer and husband Alan, Sue Lange and husband Glenn, and Tammy Miller and husband Patrick, all of Ferdinand. Shirley Oeding of Louisville, Ky. and Jane Curtis and husband Stuart of Santa Claus; four sons, Dave “Petsy” Oeding, Gary Oeding and wife Jane, Mark Oeding, all of Ferdinand, and Tony Oeding and wife Tina, of Fishers, Ind.; 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Caroline Mehringer and husband Victor, Ruth Ann Beck, Mary Schitter and husband Kenneth, Anna Mae Hopf and husband Alfred, Patty Mathies and husband Delbert all of Jasper, and Lucille Recker of Ferdinand; three brothers, Lucas Stenftnagel , Jow Stenftnagel and wife Martha, Richard Tenftnagel and wife Helen all of Jasper; and her caregiver Jackie Uebelhor of St. Henry.
Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand is in charge of all the arrangements.
