Dorothy M. Hessig, 77

Dorothy M. Hessig, 77, St. Meinrad, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

She was born at St. Meinrad on Feb. 23, 1937, to William and Opal (Kline) Seifrig. She married Arthur J. Hessig on April 27, 1957, in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He died Feb. 12, 2005.

Mrs. Hessig was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She retired from MasterBrand Cabinets, formerly Aristokraft Cabinets, in Ferdinand.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Hessig of Liberty, N.C., and Dave Hessig of Ferdinand; two daughters, Diane King of Huntingburg and Beverly Beier and husband Stephen of St. Meinrad; three brothers, Paul Seifrig and wife Linda of Adyeville, Roger Seifrig and wife Mary Ellen of St. Meinrad and Donald Seifrig and wife Kathy of Dale; three sisters, Alice Stillwell and her husband Tom of Birdseyeand Helen Stillwell and her husband Harold of Birdseye, and Mildred Harpenau and husband Larry of Tell City; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Ralph, Ted and Leroy Seifrig; a sister, Pat Aldridge; and a grandson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. CST Thursday in St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. CST Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and after 9 a.m. CST Thursday at the church.
