Dorothy M. Brittain, 80, Petersburg

Dorothy M. Brittain, 80, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at her residence.

She was born August 24, 1944, to Pearly and Maudie (Hayes) Padgett.

She married her late husband, Roger Grant Brittain, on November 27, 1965.

Dorothy graduated from beauty school and became a cosmetologist. She later owned and operated her own school bus and drove for the Pike County School Corporation for many years. She was involved in many organizations. She was a life member of the Moose Lodge #281, a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary #3587, the Eagles Auxiliary #2646, and the American Legion Auxiliary #115.

Dorothy is survived by her nephew, Scott (Shari) Birk; her very special friend, Susan (Mark) Flint; and an abundance of good friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Grant Brittain; her parents, Pearly Padgett and Maudie (Hayes) Padgett Barber; and her sister, Shirley Birk.

Services for Dorothy will take place at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Pastor Scott Fulcher will officiate, and burial will follow at Otwell Cemetery in Otwell, IN.
