Dorothy Francis Dorsam, 93

Dorothy Francis Dorsam, 93, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at The Waters of Huntingburg.
She was born March 21, 1922 in Pike County, Indiana, to Addie and Mary (Perdue) Lee.
Dorothy graduated from Stendal High School. She was baptized on February 21, 1969 and two months later joined Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg. Her faith meant a lot to her. She was a member of the Salem church choir and V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary.
Dorothy worked at factories in Jasper and Huntingburg; at the Jasper Nursing Home; and later in life as a home health care aide, a job in which she loved caring for the elderly.
Dorothy also loved to garden, grow flowers, sew (she was always making quilts), cook and can. She had a huge collection of plates from all the states and several different countries. She loved taking care of her many cats and dogs. She enjoyed having her hair and nails done. She had a huge collection of jewelry. Two of Dorothy’s favorite songs were “Jesus Loves Me” and “Amazing Grace”.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, William E. Vaughn, in 1982; her second husband, Roscoe L. Dorsam, in 2014; eleven brothers and sisters of which she was the last to survive, Ella Mae, Mattie, Rufus, Florence, George, Emma, Avanelle, Helen, Imogene, Cleo and Waiva; and one grandson, Ronnie Vaughn, Jr.
She is survived by her only child and son, Ronnie (Margaret) Vaughn of Hanson, Ky. and Velpen; four granddaughters, Lily (Vince) Fiscus of Otwell, Michelle (Darrell) Whiting of Evansville, Barbara (Chuck) Baumgart of Petersburg and Jennifer Littlepage of Madisonville, Ky.; by 14 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dorothy Dorsam will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen, Indiana. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the funeral service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the funeral.
