Dorothy E. Traylor, 87, Otwell

Dorothy E. Traylor, 87, of Otwell, passed away at Good Samaritan Home and Rehabilitative Center in Oakland City on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Dorothy was born on April 25, 1939, in Dubois County, to Joseph Andrew and Hilda Margarethea (Sendelweck) Weisheit. She married Jerry Traylor on May 11, 1957, in Otwell Methodist Church.

She owned a drapery and design business and farmed with her husband. She was a founding member of the Otwell Community Center. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale Thomas Traylor; two brothers, Leroy and James Weisheit; one sister, Janice E. Otto; and one great-grandson, Trenton Leighty.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jerry Traylor of Otwell; two daughters, Connie (Stanley) Reed of Otwell and Sherry Minkis of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Dorothy Traylor will be held at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, August 28, 2026, with funeral services at 12:00 p.m., followed by burial at Iva Public Cemetery in Iva. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Otwell Community Center.
