Doris Marie Osterman, 86, Mt. Pleasant

Doris Marie Osterman passed quietly into eternal rest on May 1, 2024, in Mt. Pleasant, Wisc.

She was born on April 25, 1938, in Waddy, Ky., as the youngest of 14 children to Gilbert and Emma Gatewood.

She spent her early years on the farm in Waddy before moving to Southern Indiana at the age of 7. After graduating high school, Doris worked in manufacturing before marrying her husband Joseph on May 30, 1959. The couple had three sons to which Doris was a full time mom and homemaker. She remained a devoted and loving wife to Joe for 65 years, moving with him to Wisconsin in 2015.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Mardy (Dee) Osterman of Hanover, Ind., Monte (Mary) Osterman of Racine, Wisc., and Merrill (Melissa) Osterman of Jasper, Ind.; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her 13 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 West Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI 53005. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Entombment will take place immediately following services.

In honor of Doris’ love of animals, memorials are suggested to be directed to The Racine Zoological Society.
