Doris Earlene Merkley, 81
Doris Earlene Merkley, age 81 of Schnellville , Indiana and formerly of Evansville, Indiana passed away at 4:21 a.m. Sunday (January 1, 2012) at Angel Rivers Health Rehabilitation in Newburgh, Indiana. She lived in Evansville, Indiana for 34 years before retiring in 1986 and moving to Schnellville, Indiana.
She was born February 26, 1930 to Samuel and Lula (Spraggins) Atkins. She married Albert O. Merkley October 4, 1947 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. (Married 64 years.)
She was a Avon salesperson for many years and baked cakes for weddings and special occasions.
Doris was a charter and former member of Nativity Catholic Church in Evansville and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville.

One brother, Floyd Atkins and spouse Janet, Martinsville, IN
Also several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is one daughter, Brenda Merkley. Two brothers, Jesse and Stanley Atkins.
Funeral services for Doris Merkley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (January 6, 2012) in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schnellville, Indiana.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday (January 5, 2012) at the Becher – Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
