Doris C. Peters, 84

Doris C. Peters, age 84, of Holland, Indiana, passed away Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at her daughter Carol Miller’s home in Huntingburg.

She was born August 10, 1928 in Holland, Indiana to Clarence and Lillian (Borman) Schroeder. She married Clayton Henry “Pete” Peters on August 22, 1948 at St. Paul’s Church in Holland. Doris was a homemaker and was known by everyone as the “Cake Lady” because of her passion for baking. She was a former Girl Scout leader and was a dedicated member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland where she was the church organist, member of the choir for 60 years, active in the Women’s Guild, and served on the Church Board. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Clayton Henry “Pete” Peters, who passed away on November 2, 2011; and one grandson, Christopher Bische.

She is survived by:

One son and one daughter-in-law,

Jerry (Bonnie) Peters – Huntingburg, IN

Two daughters and two son-in-laws,

Donna (John) Bische – Newburgh, IN

Carol (Mark) Miller – Huntingburg, IN

by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Doris Peters will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland with burial to follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Holland. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Saturday; and also at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland from 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Sunday, prior to the funeral.
