Doretha Stockinger, 86, of Boonville, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, surrounded by her sons, from complications of a stroke.

She was born May 25, 1931, in Jasper, the daughter of Matt and Rosalie Schenetzke.

She married John A. Stockinger on June 19, 1947.

Doretha, a lifelong homemaker and great-mother, was of the Catholic faith. Her hobbies included knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, and gardening.

She is survived by her sons, Michael V., Steven A. of Evansville and John Richard (Chris) of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughter Alysen Abel (Phil), great-granddaughter Maddie Abel and great-grandson Brody Abel, all of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters Betty Taylor and Caroline Winternheimer, both of Evansville and Mary Lou Wilkey of Mount Vernon; brother John Schenetzke of Jasper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; granddaughter Kelly Hoffman; brothers Charles and Henry Schenetzke; and sisters Lucy Gibson and Cecelia O’Neal.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. CST Wednesday, March 7, 2018, and from 10 a.m. CST until the time of service Thursday at the Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. CST on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bread of Life, donor’s church or favorite charity in care of the funeral home.
