Doretha C. “Dottie” Jerger, 87

Doretha C. “Dottie” Jerger, 87, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Dottie was born in St. Henry, Indiana, December 17, 1929, to Leo and Ludwina (Dall) Fleck. She married John E. Jerger on October 18, 1949 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2006.

She worked at the Jasper Glove Factory, Leed’s Selling Tools, Aristokraft Cabinets, and then Gambles Retail Store. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, where she chaired the Fancy Quilt Stand for many years, the  St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper D of I,  and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are five daughters, Brenda (Bob) Kluemper of The Villages, Fla., Donna (Aaron) Graper of Tennyson, Geriann (Paul) Lueken of Birdseye, Marilee (Alan) Young of Ireland, Audrey (Marvin) Wehr of Ireland; three sons, Lee (Jane) Jerger of Greenfield, Ind., Michael Jerger and companion Esther Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rodney Jerger and companion Debbie Mayden of Jasper; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice (Ernie) Miller of Jasper; one brother, Kenny (Pat) Fleck of Jasper.

Preceding her in death are one son, Daryl Jerger; two granddaughters, Rachel Jerger and Marie Young; one sister, Rose Tempel; four brothers, Henry, Harold, Leroy and Sylvester Fleck; and two infant brothers, Leo Jr. and Marcellanus Fleck.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Doretha C. “Dottie” Jerger will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Jasper D of I and the St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
