Doras (Doris) Mae Smith, 88, McLeansboro, Ill.
Doras (Doris) Mae Smith, 88, of McLeansboro, Ill., and recently, a resident of Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick, passed away 11:56 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at IU Health Bedford Hospital in Bedford.

She was born March 6, 1933 in Dahlgren, Ill., the daughter of Benjamin Rost and Appolonia “Lona” (Zachman) Rost.
She married Roy Clayton Smith on September 23, 1959, in Piopolis, Ill., and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1995.
She had worked at Elder Mfg. Co. as a seamstress and then was a homemaker, but for more than 30 years, she cleaned homes for many families. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth’s Altar Sodality, American Legion Auxiliary # 106, Modern Woodmen, and Hamilton County Home and Community Education. She loved her church, quilting, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Mark (Ellen) Smith of Springerton, Ill., and one daughter, Deann (Shane) Toliver of French Lick; five grandchildren, Trisha (Bryan) Bailey, Todd Smith, Bradley (Angie) Smith, Bridget Smith, and Breann Toliver; five great-grandchildren, Dakota, Ciera, Bryan Jr., Zander, and Cambria; several nieces and nephews also survive Doris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers, Eugene, Charles, Richard, James, Benjamin Jr. and William Rost; two sisters, Marian Schuster and Ruth Furdek; and two great grandchildren, Braden Smith and Destiny Bailey.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on April 10, 2021, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.
Burial will follow at Old Springer Cemetery, Blairsville with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating the services.
Harre Funeral Home of McLeansboro, IL is in charge of arrangements. Social distancing and face coverings are requested.
