Donnie Gene Wiseman, 62, Otwell

Donnie Gene Wiseman, 62, of Otwell, passed away January 13, 2026, in Jasper.

He was born on November 11, 1963, to Bernard L. and Beverly Ann (Kelso) Wiseman in Jasper.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1988, receiving his honorable discharge in 1988. He was a specialist in ammunition and high explosives while deployed in South Korea.

Donnie graduated from Vincennes University with a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security. He was a graduate of the United States Federal Law Enforcement Academy. Donnie was a faithful member of the Gospel Center Church in Petersburg, the Homeland Security Fraternity since 2007, and Petersburg VFW Post #3587. He was a longtime member of the Jefferson Township Fire Department in Otwell.

Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Donnie is survived by his brothers, Terry (Amera) Wiseman and Ron (Ann) Wiseman; sister, Sheila (David) Bailey-Hudgins; nieces and nephews, Katie Turner, Lauren Norris, Jessie Rose Lowder, Austin Wiseman, Luke Bailey, Andrew Wiseman, Ashley Hebert, and Alexandra von Hahmann; and his loyal dog, Ginger.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Beverly Ann (Kelso) Wiseman.

The Wiseman family would like to give a special thanks to Dave and Jan Sendelweck for their love, support, and close friendship with Donnie all these years. Also, a special thanks to the Jefferson Township Fire Department for the years of loyal support, care, and camaraderie for Donnie.

A private family graveside service will take place. A public Celebration of Life will take place from noon to 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 24, at the Jefferson Township Fire Department in Otwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jefferson Township Fire Department and may be mailed to PO Box 119, Otwell, IN 47564. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
