Donald W. Oskins, 87, of Clarksville, Indiana, formerly of Huntingburg, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.
He was born September 17, 1927 in Huntingburg to Edward T. and Mabel M. (Werremeyer) Oskins.
He married Virginia Lea Condict in the parsonage of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church on November 29, 1949.
Donald started working at Southern Railway at the age of 16 as a telegraph operator. When he became a train dispatcher in 1949, he was the youngest train dispatcher in the United States. He retired in 1987 after 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia L. Oskins; three sons, Douglas J. Oskins, Mark W. Oskins and Kim D. Oskins; three grandsons; and one great grandson.
Graveside services for Donald W. Oskins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Lee Campbell will officiate at the service.
