Donald Ray Broeker, 74, Huntingburg

Donald Ray Broeker, 74, Huntingburg, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

He was born November 11, 1941, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Ralph and Mary (Kluemper) Broeker. He married Patricia A. Messmer on February 22, 1962, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Mr. Broeker worked at Kimball Jasper Corp. & Hospitality as a woodworker and line supervisor. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the Y.M.I. Club and Huntingburg High School’s Happy Hunters. He was an avid Southridge Raiders and sports fan. He also enjoyed model trains, cooking and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, David Broeker.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Broeker of Huntingburg; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lynn (Dave) Scheu of Jasper and Lisa (Michael) Kern of Jasper; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Diane (Eugene) Mehringer of Ireland and Annette (Mike) Kugler of Atlanta; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, John (Peg) Broeker of Huntingburg, Ralph “Bill” (Shirley) Broeker of Oakland City and Richard (Joan) Broeker of Rockport; five grandchildren, Brandie Astrike, Heath Astrike, Logan Astrike, Max Kern and Levi Kern.

Funeral services for Donald Broeker will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. A parish rosary prayer service will be led by Deacon Thomas Holsworth at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nass & Son Chapel followed by a vigil service conducted by members of the Y.M.I. Club.
