Donald R. Butler, 77

Donald R. Butler, 77, of Stendal, passed away at 11:01 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born on October 1, 1937 in Pike County to Howard and Mildred (Barrnett) Butler. He married Joyce Corn on July 22, 1960 at Bethel General Baptist Church. 

Mr. Butler worked for the Old Ben Coal Company for 35 years and retired as a superintendent. He was a 50 year member of the Lynnville Masonic Lodge; served in the Army National Guard; and was a Cardinal and I.U. sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Gregory Butler; and two siblings, Jeanett Johnson and Howard “Sonny” Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Butler of Stendal; one brother, David Butler of Jefferson, Ga.; and by nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Donald Butler will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.

The Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements.  No visitation will be held at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to PAWS (Pike Animal Welfare Shelter) in Petersburg.
