Donald L. Deffendoll, 78

Donald L. Deffendoll, age 78, of Jasper, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Kentucky Baptist East, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born on December 12, 1935 at Petersburg, Indiana to Norman and Grace (Harris) Deffendoll. He married Bernice Kunkler on June 29, 1957 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony, Indiana.
Donald was a 1954 graduate of Petersburg High School. After high school he served in the US Air force as a jet engine mechanic stationed at Andrews AFB in Washington D.C.
He retired from Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in 1991, He worked there as a Clinical Engineer, He was employed there for 21 years. He was one of the first certified Emergency Technician when the ambulance service was started in Dubois County.
Donald was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Life member of the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, Jasper Rifle and Gun Club, Jasper R/C (Radio Control) Flyers and and American Legion Post # 147.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Deffendoll; two daughters, Donna Deffendol and Darlene Deffendoll, both of Jasper; one sister,
Carrie Loveall of Jasper; nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lola Bell.
Funeral services for Donald Deffendoll will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. American Legion Post # 147 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Jasper Moose Lodge # 1175 will hold a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
