Donald J. Kress, 75

Donald J. Kress, 75, of Jasper, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 3, 1938 to Edwin M. and Lillian I. (Brown) Kress. He married Janice Lampert on January 20, 1962 in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.

Don graduated from Jasper High School Class of 1956 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville . Don retired as president of Kress Oil Company and most recently was employed at Bob Luegers Motors in Jasper.

He was an alumnus of the University of Louisville and was an avid basketball fan and Louisville Cardinal season ticket holder for over 45 years and attended numerous tournament and Final Four games.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and was a natural prankster.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Kress; daughter, Kelly Kress-Kluesner, of Haysville; two sons, Kipp Kress and his wife Beth, of Bloomington, and Klay Kress and his wife Heidi, of Santa Claus; four grandchildren, Jesse Kluesner, Megan and Madisyn Kress and Matthew Kress; sister, Sarah Henning of Greensboro, N.C.

Preceding him in death are one son, Kirk Anthony Kress and One brother, Joseph “Ed” Kress.

Funeral services for Donald Kress will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Lange- Fuhs Cancer Center of Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
