Donald Gene Borden, 84, Huntingburg

Donald Gene Borden, 84, of Huntingburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center.

He was born May 10, 1939, to Clayton and Opal (Huff) Borden.  

Don married Imogene Grunden on March 14, 1959, at Anderson Valley Church.  

He worked for USNR as a field engineer. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Huntingburg Eagles and a lifetime member of 50 years, Bethlehem Masonic Lodge of Birdseye #574 F&Am.  Don was the epitome of a “jack of all trades,” having the ability to fix anything he put his hands on.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the Borden farm in Birdseye, where he grew up.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Jeff and Archie Borden, Connie Mason and Dee Weisman. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, “Imo” Borden of Huntingburg; a daughter, Toni (Kenny) Gilkey of Louisville; a son, Greg (Karen) Borden of Jasper; eight siblings, Cendia Letterman of Jasper, Wyoma Gehlhausen of Birdseye, Jan Leach of Birdseye, Jake (Sheila) Borden of Doolittle Mills, Travis (Marilyn) Borden of Haysville, Phyllis (Danny) Yates of Florida, Joe (Donna) Borden of Kyana, Deb Ernst of Birdseye; five grandchildren, Erica, Jesica, Alia, Sam, Riley and six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Maci, Graham, Ariel, Maverick, and Harley with one on the way.

Funeral services for Don Borden will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery with a Masonic memorial conducted by Bethlehem Masonic Lodge of Birdseye #574 F&Am. Pastor Zachary Korff will officiate.

Friends may call for visitation at Nass and Son Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
