Donald E. “Birdie” Birdwell, 70, of Ferdinand, IN, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013.

Birdwell served in the US Navy and was a retired dealer of antiques and collectibles as well as a silversmith.

He is survived by daughter, Anita Klein; son, Brian Birdwell; companion of 32 years, Julie Melchior; sister, Mary Birdwell; stepson, Richard Leinenbach; stepdaughter, Anne McDaniel; and one niece and nephew.

There will be no visitation; Birdwell will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ferdinand State Forest Civilian Conservation Corps shelterhouse.
