Dog handling, martial arts and AutoCAD offered by VUJC Continuing Education
VU Jasper Continuing Education will offer AutoCAD 2015 Essentials for seven sessions, Tuesday and Thursdays, February 7 to 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Participants will develop the skills necessary to:
-Create 2D objects, text, and dimensions accurately.
-Perform basic editing, manipulation commands, inquiry commands and plotting drawings in model and paper space to scale.
-Create, manage, and manipulate blocks and symbols, external references, and translators.
Topics covered include:
-Intro to the Software
-Basic 2D Construction Techniques
-Editing and Plotting
-Geometric Construction Techniques
-Creating Templates
-2D Orthographic Projection
-Dimensioning
-Section and Auxiliary Views
-Manipulating Blocks, the Design Center, and Tool Pallettes

Martial Arts For All, an AKA certified course, will focus on Tae Kwon Do and will include self-defense, pressure point fighting, joint manipulation, ground fighting and sport karate. Belt rank can be arranged. This course will continue with an optional eight-week extension. The class is open for adults and children. Class meets eight Tuesdays from March 14 to May 2 at 6:30 to 8 p.m. The fee is $60. The instructor is Alex Mlsna who holds a black belt.
Introduction to Tai Chi, is a low impact exercise program is designed to improve balance, flexibility, breathing and overall fitness for men and woman. The exercises can be done standing or sitting. It incorporates many Tai Chi elements along with proper breathing and balancing techniques. Participants should wear comfortable workout clothes to class. Class meets four Thursdays, February 2 to 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. Instructor is James Birkle who holds two black belts and earned a gold medal in self-defense competition in Geneva, Switzerland in 2013. VU Jasper will offer Dog Obedience classes in February at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds in the Clover Pavilion. Beginning classes are eight Wednesdays, February 1 to March 22 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Intermediate classes will be held eight Wednesdays, February 1 to March 22 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Advanced classes will be held eight Wednesdays, February 1 to March 22, 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. The fee is $90. Students need to bring a choke collar, six-foot leash, proof of immunizations, plastic bags and paper towels for clean-up.
The instructor is Aaron Terwiske. He has been a dog trainer since 1973 and has become one of the top dog trainers with over 25 titles held. To register call 812-481-5937.
