Diocese hosting Wisdom Day on October 22

Wisdom Day is offered annually through the Diocese of Evansville’s Office of Marriage, Family and Life to celebrate the city’s over-age 55 population. 

The upcoming East Deanery Wisdom Day at Jasper will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The day will begin with an optional 8 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph Church, Jasper, “for Wisdom Day benefactors and participants” as the intention. Registration will be held in the St. Joseph Parish Center from 8:30 until 9:15. The day’s program will begin at 9:15 and end around 2:15 

Mrs. Pat Koch will serve as the emcee, and Bishop Joseph Siegel will provide information about what is happening around the Diocese. Speakers will be Scotty Munning, Deacon Mike Seibert, and representatives from Gentiva Hospice.

Scotty Munning has been a nurse for 37 years, a Faith and Community Nurse for 25 years, and a Family Nurse Practitioner for the past 7 years.  Deacon Seibert has been ordained for 9 years and his current assignment from the Bishop is to concentrate on Discipleship for the nine parishes in the East Deanery.

The day’s events, including a catered lunch, door prizes, and entertainment, are all free. Over 20 volunteers from the local community work to ensure the event’s success, usually attended by about 150 area seniors.
