Dine, Dance & Shop supports Drew family in pancreatic cancer battle

Courtney Hagedorn Drew, 36, has been battling Stage-4 Pancreatic Cancer since being diagnosed in March.

The 36-year-old mother of two children, Jaxton, 6, and Emersyn, 4, is a United States Coast Guard veteran. She and her husband, Rusty (Huntingburg’s assistant chief of police), live in Huntingburg.

The family’s life has been turned upside down.

Courtney has continued to fight and stay positive. Her journey has taken her to Evansville, Newburgh, IU Health in Indianapolis, U of L and now Norton’s Cancer Institute in Louisville, Ky. She has received five rounds of chemo so far and the plan is to continue with chemo every two weeks.

Her oncology team at Norton’s is searching for clinical trials that may help and be compatible with her and her diagnosis. Courtney and her family have a long road ahead of them. This journey also comes with unforeseen expenses.

Friends and family of the couple are hosting a Dine, Dance and Shop Benefit on July 13, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Venue 1408 in Huntingburg.

This family-friendly event features a dinner catered by Oink, Inc. and two live musical acts. Debbie Schuetter will perform from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and then, members of “Keep on Trail” will close out the evening.
