Dewayne Chappell, 75, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 11:41 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born November 28, 1938 in Pikeville, Indiana, to William and Iva (Sullivan) Chappell. He was united in marriage to Carol Kelley on September 24, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Dewayne formerly worked for Harker Automotive as an automotive parts salesman. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Y.M.I. Club. Dewayne enjoyed fishing, wine making, watching NASCAR, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and one brother, Bill Chappell of Boonville.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Chappell of Huntingburg; two daughters and two son-in-laws, Stacy (Phil) Weisman of Ireland and Shannon (Joe) Farrell of Indianapolis; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug (Brenda) Chappell of Indianapolis; two sisters and two brother-in-laws, Nancy (Myreon) Krohn of Coe, Ind.; Betty (Pat) Carlisle of Francisco; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dewayne Chappell will be held at 10:00 a.m., EST, on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2-8 p.m., on Friday. A parish rosary and Y.M.I. vigil will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Organ Repair Fund, or the New Lebanon Cemetery Fund in Velpen.
