Destination Huntingburg recognized as official Main Street Program

Destination Huntingburg has been recognized as an official member of the State of Indiana’s Main Street Program. The Indiana Main Street (IMS) program encourages economic development, improvement and restoration in the downtown areas of Indiana cities and towns.
The IMS is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). Ellen Harper, OCRA Southwest Community Liaison presented to the Destination Huntingburg board of directors on Thursday, November 6, 2014 a certificate signed by Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann, officially designating Destination Huntingburg to the IMS.
“I am so pleased to welcome Destination Huntingburg to the Indiana Main Street Program,” says Harper. “Huntingburg has a wonderfully unique downtown and with the assistance of the IMS, I am confident it will continue to be a destination attraction.”
“We are really excited to be an official Main Street Program recognized by the State of Indiana,” says Destination Huntingburg President Rachel Steckler. “Through this program, we will be eligible for grants that can be used to restore, improve and maintain many of the wonderful assets we are blessed to have in downtown Huntingburg.”
Destination Huntingburg joins over 100 other Indiana Main Street communities throughout the state. Board members include: Rachel Steckler (President); Jayme Rasche (Vice President); Cathy Young (Treasurer); Sandy Kays (Secretary); Melissa Baxter; Jenna Gogel; Amanda Smith; Nick Stevens and Mary Uebelhor.
