Deputy Josh Smith new Southeast School Corporation resource officer

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office announced Deputy Josh Smith is the newest school resource officer who will be assigned to the Southeast Dubois County School Corporation.

Those Schools include Forest Park Jr/Sr High, Cedar Crest Intermediate, Ferdinand Elementary, and Pine Ridge Elementary.

Josh began his law enforcement career in July 2010 with the Ferdinand Police Department. He was hired by the sheriff’s office and sworn in as a deputy sheriff in November 2013.

Josh was raised just outside of Otwell, Indiana. He attended Vincennes University and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Law Enforcement. He now lives in Jasper with his wife, Lacey, and their two children ages 2 and 4.

His favorite task at work is traffic enforcement and patrolling for impaired drivers. He likes to spend his free time hanging out with friends and family, and working on his personal pickup truck.

Deputy Smith is scheduled to begin his new assignment as of January 1st, 2020.
