Densil A. Hollen, 88, of French Lick, formerly of Birdseye, passed away, Monday, December 29, 2014 at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

Densil was born October 25, 1926 in Crawford County, Indiana, to Arthur and Lola “Dovie” (Limp) Hollen.

Densil attended French Lick High School and worked as a surveyor for the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a history buff and loved reading books dealing with many different aspects of history. He also enjoyed steam engines and he liked to travel around seeing different types of steam engines around the country. He was a member of the Paoli Senior Citizens and the Birdseye Christian Church where he had served as an elder for many years. He was a World War II US Army veteran.

He is survived by his sisters, Neva Drake of Paoli and Jane Hollen of Paoli, nephews, Kent Drake of Paoli and Mark Hollen of Kentucky and nieces, Marsha DeLong of Cannelburg and Robin Hollen of Jeffersonville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Orland Hollen and a nephew, Kevin Drake.

Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at T.L Pinnick Mortuary, 785 South Bears Bend Road, French Lick, with Rev. Ron Hickman officiating. Burial will be at the Wickliffe Cemetery in Wickliffe. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at T.L Pinnick Mortuary.
