Dennis Dale Heaton, 80, Jasper

Dennis Dale Heaton, 80, of Jasper, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020, at home. 

Dennis was born in Toccoa, Georgia, on October 25, 1939, to James and Elsie (Lindsey) Heaton. He married Sharon Hall on October 14, 1959, in Gentryville, Indiana. 

Dennis was a United States Army veteran serving in the military police. He worked for Elmer Buchta Trucking in the House Moving Division, and in paving construction for J.H. Rudolph. He was a member of Jasper Outdoor Recreation. 

Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, pitching horseshoes, camping, singing, country music, and watching sports, especially Indianapolis Colts football, Indiana University basketball, and NASCAR. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Heaton of Jasper; two daughters, Yvonne (Gerald) Engelbrecht of Jasper; Vicki (Cory) Henke of Jasper, Randy (Raina) Heaton of Villa Rica, Ga., Dean (Jennifer) Heaton of Jasper, Brian Heaton of Jasper, and Eric (Lea) Heaton of Spurgeon; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. 

Preceding him in death is one sister, Hazel Gabriel; and four brothers, Harold, James, Ray, and Billy Heaton.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at a later date. 

There will be a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
