Dennis C. Freyberger, 65, Dubois

Dennis C. Freyberger, 65, of Dubois, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 30, 1952, to Amos W. and Ardella Lydia (Nussmeyer) Freyberger. He married Melanie Meyer June 1, 1974 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township.
Dennis was a graduate of Dubois High School Class of 1970.
He was a lifelong farmer.
Dennis was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana where he had served on the church council.
He served on many county committees as a member and/or chairperson including the Dubois County Pork Producers, the Dubois County SWCD, and the USDA Farm Service Agency. He was an active member of the local National Farmers Organization (NFO) where he had also served as an officer.
He was a recipient of the Silver Cup from Purdue University for outstanding Farm Management in 1972.
He enjoyed rabbit hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie; daughter, Nicole and fiance Stuart Thomas of Crestview Hills, Ky.; two sons, Matthew (Tina) Freyberger of Jasper and Adam (Jessica) Freyberger of Dubois; five grandchildren, Eli, Lexi, Abbie, Ryder and Ruger Freyberger; three sisters, JoAnn (Wayne) Schnarr of Ireland, Shirley (Geoff) Stallwood of Jasper and Linda (Tony) Schmitt of Jasper; three brothers, Kenneth Freyberger, Edwin Freyberger and Keith (Kathy) Freyberger, all Dubois;
Preceded in death by one son who died in infancy.
Funeral services for Dennis Freyberger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. Rev. Tim Holt will officiate.
The visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at St. Paul’s church in Haysville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the ALS Foundation or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
