DeMotte seeking reelection to Greater Jasper School Board

Tim DeMotte seeking reelection for Greater Jasper Consolidated School Board Seat, Bainbridge, District 4.

“It has been a very complicated and fruitful first term on the board. From building a new school, hiring two elementary principals, two assistant superintendents, new coaches, teachers and now, Covid-19, it has been a whirlwind,” said DeMotte. “Through it all I feel the decisions made have been thoughtful and practical.”

DeMotte graduated from Jasper High School in 1995, Indiana University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree, dual majoring in criminal justice and history.

He then attended Indiana University-Indianapolis and received his law degree in 2002. After obtaining his law license, he joined his father in the practice of law in Jasper in 2002.

“If elected, the pandemic will continue to be the board’s focus of business for the foreseeable future,” he said. “I have received input from all sides on the issues the coronavirus presents. There are no right answers. All we can do is try to move forward with the safety of the students and staff in mind. Safety not only as it relates to the virus, but safety in terms of the emotional, physical and mental well-being of our students and staff.”

DeMotte is married to Beth, who is the daughter of Allen and Johnnie Heeke, both of Jasper. He has a daughter entering 5th grade and a son entering 3rd grade this fall. They will be attending the new Jasper Elementary School.

He is the son of Brenda and Jim DeMotte both of Jasper.

Demotte also serves as a member of the Jasper Economic Development Commission, Jasper’s Census Committee, and is a former president of the Dubois County Bar Association.
