Deborah Ann Martin, 69, Sarasota, Fla.

Deborah Ann Martin, 69, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Debbie was born in Huntingburg on October 20, 1952, to Jim and Leta (Bernardi) Gunselman.

She married Leroy “Cliff” Martin on August 20, 1977, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Debbie was a 1970 graduate of Huntingburg High School and moved to Sarasota, Florida to attend cosmetology school after graduation. There she met her husband of 44 years and together they raised two daughters. Debbie loved being a wife and mother. Her family was her heart.

She was spirited, vibrant, and devoted to her Catholic faith. Debbie always had a smile to give, a meal to share and time to talk. Winter was her favorite time of year; a steady stream of family and friends would come to vacation. Never tiring of sharing her home and family with others. She lit the room up with her smile and fun-loving personality. She also extended this love to her clientele. She took great pride serving her clients as an independent businesswoman. She considered them family and truly enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Cliff Martin of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Krista (Scott) Kennedy of Fort Lauderdale and Tiffany Martin of Crozet, Va.; two brothers, Jim (Deb) Gunselman of Jasper, Danny (Donna) Gunselman of Holland; one sister Shelly (Eric) Hedinger of Jasper; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.

Preceding her in death are her father James (Jim) Gunselman and her mother Leta(Bernardi) Gunselman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Incarnation Catholic Church, Sarasota Florida, or a favorite charity.
