Deaconess Memorial to host pre-nursing event for high school students

Deaconess Memorial Medical Center will host a “Dive into Nursing” event for high school freshmen through seniors on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at the hospital, 800 W. 9th St. in Jasper. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

The event is designed to give students a hands-on look at the nursing profession, with activities aimed at helping them explore daily nursing duties, connect with working nurses for advice on the career path, and learn about nursing programs and scholarship opportunities. Organizers also plan nursing unit tours, giveaways and free ice cream from JB’s Barnyard.
