Deaconess Memorial introduces Better Breathers Club for those with chronic lung disease

Deaconess Memorial Medical Center is transitioning its Living with COPD Support Group to the Better Breathers Club, a monthly support group affiliated with the American Lung Association. The first meeting will take place Wednesday, November 11, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time at Deaconess Memorial.

The Better Breathers Club provides a welcoming space for individuals living with chronic lung diseases, as well as their family members, friends and support persons, to learn about lung conditions, explore disease management strategies and connect with others who share similar experiences.

While the group builds on the support previously offered through the Living with COPD Support Group, the Better Breathers Club welcomes individuals affected by a variety of chronic lung conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer and asthma.

Through educational presentations, problem-solving discussions and social activities, participants can gain practical tools to better manage their conditions, cope with daily challenges and maintain the best possible quality of life. Led by trained facilitators, the group also offers opportunities to share experiences, ask questions and find encouragement from others facing similar circumstances.

The Better Breathers Club will be held the second Wednesday of every month in the Mary Potter Meeting Room at Deaconess Memorial, located at 800 W. 9th Street in Jasper. For more information about the Better Breathers Club, please call 812-996-4006 or 812-996-0552.
