dcForward – a new app for Dubois County
Dubois County Forward launches today. Compatible with iPhones, iPods, iPads, Androids tablets and phones and, soon, Kindle Fire, the app is available as a free download.
Published by M.A.R.K. Media Group LLC (M for Matt, A for Amy, R for Richard and K for Kathy), Dubois County Forward is an umbrella for various magazines, the first of which features Dubois County’s vibrant business culture.
New issues will be released monthly, on different topics, but all will concern the people who make Dubois County what it is.
Matt and Amy Crane, publishers of the Dubois County Free Press, and Richard “Digger” and Kathy Tretter, publishers of the Ferdinand News in both print and online versions, joined forces to take advantage of a new method of delivery.
The Tretters, old school, traditional journalists and the Cranes, who have experience in digital media, all have one goal: They want to tell stories.
All bring different qualities to the mix and all have “good feelings about each other’s talent,” Kathy notes. “We believe in Dubois County and sharing the good news.”
“Dubois County has great stories,” Matt enthuses. “Now, we can spread the story of Dubois County internationally.”
Our first edition is filled with human interest/business stories that will appeal to everyone, and all sorts of neat features,” Kathy explains.
“An iPad or iPhone is easier to carry around than a newspaper,” Richard notes. That’s why they’re gaining popularity among seniors as well, the group believes.
“We wanted to create something available to everybody,” Matt adds.
When iPads were introduced in 2010, Steve Jobs said they would “revolutionize publishing in general.” Statistics seem to confirm that statement. In three short years, tablets are outselling notebook computers.
“We wanted to create a unique publication and take advantage of this new engine,” Matt says.
While the other three have worked on stories, photos and setting up the business end of the project, Amy has been largely responsible for the magazine layout. She has spent endless hours with webinars, tutorials and help boards, and the result is a beautifully rendered, professional publication.
“The best thing for me has been seeing others’ reactions,” Amy smiles. “I’m stoked!”
Dubois County Forward is available now as a free download.
The app will alert customers when a new issue is available. The business quarterly is available now and, although the next issue will have different content, the subject will always be Dubois County and its people.
