It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of David Lee Prepster, Jr., currently of Bedford.

A son, brother, father, and friend, who left this world far too soon on February 8, 2026. David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 6, 1974. His hometown was Huntingburg.
David is survived by four sons: Gabriel McKinney of California, Aidan Prepster of Arkansas, Arran and Oliver Prepster of Bedford; parents, David L. Sr. and Marie (Nord) Prepster of Huntingburg; sister, Amy (Jason) Lents of Huntingburg and sister, Carmen Prepster (partner, Kurt M. Brown) of Jasper; nieces and nephew.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Nicole McMickle; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Louise (Wagner) Nord; and paternal grandparents, Eleanor (Melger) and Joseph Prepster, and Eddie Kaiser.
A graduate of Southridge High School in 1994, David went on to channel his love for cooking. He dedicated himself to becoming a self-educated culinary artist, working as a line cook and lead kitchen manager at various establishments. His enthusiasm for creating delicious meals was not just a profession but an expression for those around him.
He was an avid baseball fan, particularly devoted to the Chicago Cubs. His passion for music was equally profound, with a diverse taste that included iconic bands and artists such as Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson and Pearl Jam. Not only did he enjoy listening to music, but he had an amazing singing voice as well. Music was a constant companion in his life.
His family wishes to honor his memory privately with a ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to celebrate David’s life in a manner he would have cherished: cooking a good meal or enjoying one at a fabulous restaurant, turning up your favorite music, and catching a ballgame. Through these acts, may we all keep his spirit alive, cherishing the moments and passions that defined him.
