David L. Russell, 79, Jasper

David L. Russell, 79, of Jasper, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare in Evansville, Indiana.

David was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 9, 1947, to Wendell and Elizabeth (Noble) Russell.

He married Linda Keith on May 9, 1971, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.

He was a 1965 graduate of George Roger Clark High School. He served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. He went on to receive his master’s degree from Western Kentucky University.  

He was an agriculture teacher at Southridge High School and continued to substitute teach until retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He was an avid collector of Die-Cast cars. He enjoyed running half marathons, walking his dog Daisy, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Russell of Jasper; three daughters, Heather (Richard) Randolph of Peoria, Ill., Sarah (John) Weber of Jasper, and Shelly Russell of Jasper; three grandchildren, Faith (Colin) Bowling, Gavin Barnett, and Gabriella Randolph; and great-grandson, Wesley Bowling; and brother-in-law, J. Garland Combs.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, Donna Combs and brother, Edward Russell.

A funeral service for David L. Russell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner downtown chapel, with burial to follow in Enlow Cemetery.

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
