David J. Youngs, 80

David J. Youngs, 80, of Jasper, IN, passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

David was born on April 16, 1934 in Upsilanti, Michigan to Verl and Ruth (Atkin) Youngs. He married Virginia Louise Wade on August 14, 1953 in the Naval Chapel at Key West, FL.

David was a retired superintendent from AMAX Coal Company, and later worked for Auto Zone in Jasper.

He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Christian Church of Jasper.

He enjoyed woodworking, model airplanes, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Louise Youngs of Jasper; one daughter, Linda Thompson and her husband Chuck, of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons; Steven Youngs and his wife, Gwen, of Kennesaw, Ga. and Phillip Youngs of Florissant, Mo.; seven grandchildren;
Jamie Burriss, Megan Ledbetter, Ashley Calderon, Natalie Clark, Tyler Youngs, Ryan Youngs, and Aaron Beckman; five great-grandchildren, Cooper Ledbetter, Sloan Ledbetter, Sophia Burriss, Mason Calderon, and Hudson Clark; two sisters, Ellen Hobbs, of DuQuoin, Ill. and Eleanor Toby and her husband Paul, of Grand Lodge, Mich.; three brothers; Dr. Paul Youngs and his wife Judy, of Clarksville, Darrell Youngs and his wife Donna, of Gaylord, Mich. and Rob Youngs and his companion Cathy Jankowski, of Bethany Beach, Dela.

Funeral services for David Youngs will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Pastor Darrell Land will officiate. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
