David J. Hawkins, 88, Huntingburg

David J. Hawkins, 88, of Huntingburg, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

He was born May 22, 1929, in Duff, Indiana to David T. and Myrtle (Bufkins) Hawkins. He married Christina J. Sullivan on August 4, 1951, in Jasper.

David was a factory worker and truck driver for D.M.I. He enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with his family, and helping out family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy L. Hawkins and David W. Hawkins; and his sister, Katherine Brenner.

He is survived by his wife, Christina J. Hawkins of Huntingburg; two daughters, Paula Braunecker of Ferdinand and Kathy Braunecker of Santa Claus; by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for David J. Hawkins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday and also from noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
