David C. Verkamp, 53, Schnellville

David C. Verkamp, 53, Schnellville, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

David was born on May 28, 1963, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Leo and Minnie (Thewes) Verkamp. He married Francine Young on September 26, 1987, in Holy Family Catholic Church.

David worked in the construction industry and was a member of the Laborers Union Local #561. He also enjoyed working on his small farm. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Francine Verkamp of Schnellville; four sons, Jacob Verkamp and fiancé Blakney Durcholz of Celestine, Craig Verkamp of Schnellville, Keith Verkamp of Schnellville and Travis Verkamp of Schnellville; three sisters, Charlene Kern and husband John of Mariah Hill, Clara Mae Mehringer and husband George of Jasper and Dorothy Simpson and husband Rick of Tell City; four brothers, Clarence Verkamp and wife Donna of Celestine, Raymond Verkamp of Schnellville, Eugene Verkamp and wife Cindy of Schnellville and Charlie Verkamp and wife Diane of Schnellville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant sister, Mary Verkamp.

Funeral services for David C. Verkamp will be held at 10:00 a.m on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
