Daughters of American Revolution host summer social; planning for Centennial celebration

The Dubois County Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held an informal
Summer Social/Open House on Tuesday, August 16, at the Jasper Library. Members and prospective
members alike gathered together to share some dessert and fellowship as well as hear about upcoming DAR events and initiatives.

The unstructured meeting highlighted a number of recent DAR events, including the trip to the annual Continental Congress in Washington, D. C. by Vice Regent Paula Book and Treasurer Ann Czerwinski.

The chapter also was the host for the Southwest District conference on August 6 at Shiloh (United
Methodist) Church in Jasper, which saw the largest attendance of the six conferences held around the state during the first week of August.

The chapter will celebrate its centennial this fall, having been chartered on October 17, 1922. A
Centennial Celebration Open House is planned for Sunday, October 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Old Town Hall in Huntingburg. All former and current members of the chapter, as well as the families of any members from the past ten decades, are cordially invited to attend.
