Daryl R. Maxey, 76

Daryl R. Maxey, 76, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:54 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born November 5, 1938 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Dwight and Luella (Fehribach) Maxey. He married Carol Buechlein on August 7, 1969 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.
Mr. Maxey was a barber for 56 years and worked at D.M.I. for 28 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener; and enjoyed woodworking and collecting Indian artifacts.
Daryl served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Maxey of Huntingburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Jay A. (Amy) Maxey of Huntingburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Linda) Maxey of Ferdinand; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Greg) Harter of Columbus, Ind.; four grandchildren, Justine (Zach) Moesner, Grace Maxey, Olivia Maxey and Grant Maxey all of Huntingburg; two great-grandchildren, twins Evie and Max Moesner.
Funeral services for Daryl R. Maxey will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday. A parish vigil service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
