Darrell Kent Oxley, 76, Dale

Darrell Kent Oxley, 76, of Dale, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded by family.

He was born on October 15, 1949, in Huntingburg, to Hoyt and Mildred (Tuley) Oxley.

On June 8, 1968, he married his best friend Judy Dague at Heilman Mt. Olive General Baptist Church, and they began a devoted and beautiful life together filled with love, faith, family and friends. Darrell was a proud United States Veteran serving as a Marine from 1969-1971. He also served as the church treasurer for over 25 years, which had been handed over to him by his father. His faith was strong, and he took pride in serving the church. He also carried his faith into being a devoted farmer, continuing a family tradition of taking care of God’s land in all seasons. He served on the Soil and Water Conservation District Board and was an inductee of the Warrick County Agriculture Hall of Fame.

Above all, being “PopPop” to his six grandkids was his greatest blessing. He rarely missed any of their activities and sporting events. He also had a love for Atlanta Braves Baseball that started at a young age by listening to the games on a transistor radio hidden under his pillow.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Oxley of Dale; two children, Marcus (Jamie) Oxley of Elberfeld and Brian (Heather) Oxley of Dale; three siblings, Marlene (Jerry) Powell, Larry (Sandy) Oxley and Leon (Lana) Oxley; and six grandchildren, Gavin, Jalen, Kaybree, Landon, Damon, and Easton.

Funeral services for Darrell Oxley will be held at 11:00 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Heilman Mt. Olive General Baptist Church, 8800 North State Road 161, Dale, IN 47523. Burial will follow at Garrison Chapel Cemetery near Heilman, 6766 Garrison Road, Gentryville, IN 47537. Pastor Ken Slater will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, July 27th, at Heilman Mt. Olive General Baptist Church, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
