Darlene Ruth Nord, 63, Jasper

Darlene Ruth Nord, 63, of Jasper passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020, at home surrounded by loved ones. 

Darlene was born in Huntingburg on December 9, 1956, to Floyd and Agnes (Brown) Epple of New Boston, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Larry Nord on May 19, 1984, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.   

She worked for Masterbrand Cabinets in Jasper and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. She loved spending time outside in her garden of tomatoes and flower gardens. She loved visiting with friends and playing a friendly game of cards. 

Darlene fought and beat cancer twice in the last two years. It may have claimed her body, but it never laid a hand on her indomitable spirit. To Darlene, the truth was something to be spoken and not manipulated. She never felt sorry for herself and always put her family first. 

Darlene is survived by her loving husband Larry, and her wonderful daughters, Nicole Nord of Evansville and Jade Nord at home; eight siblings including her twin sister, Diane Berger (David) of Perry County; sisters, Mary Divich (Steve) of Valparaiso and Dorothy Childers (Dave) of Mitchell and brothers, Cletus Epple (Joann) of Valparaiso, Dennis Epple (Linda) of Pittsburgh, Penn., Donald Epple (Pam) of Branchville, Ronald Epple (Linda) of Indianapolis and Larry Epple (Karen) of Ferdinand; many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Darlene Nord will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. 

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Becher Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. mass time at the church on Wednesday. The Holy Family Parish will pray the rosary at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the Wounded Warriors Foundation, or to a favorite charity.
